Dear Participants,

The 2010 Law Games organizing committee is proud to invite you to the pleadings competition, which will be held on the 3rd and 4th of January 2010. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we present you the academic calendar of activities.

The 2010 edition of the pleadings competition will be in the form of an oral debate, a type of “Face to Face”. We are particularly pleased to inform you that this year the debates will be translated on the spot by professional translators. For the Law Games 2010 organizing committee, it was absolutely essential and of great importance that the debates be able to be held in both official languages.

The subjects that will be debated by the participants of the pleadings competition were carefully chosen by our selection committee, in order for the juridical debates to be tied into contemporary questions. The following topics will be the object of the oral debates:

o Preliminary round: For or against bringing Canadian citizen Omar Khadr back to Canada.
o 2nd and 3rd rounds: For or against the implementation of minimal sentences for financial crimes.
o Final: For or against the creation of a pan-Canadian securities commission.

We will announce shortly the bench of esteemed judges that will preside over the pleadings competition and evaluate all of the participating teams. Also, a detailed schedule of the competition will be available as soon as we have confirmation of participation from all of the participating delegations.

The 2010 Law Games is arriving at full speed and the organizing committee is anxious to welcome you in great numbers!

Looking forward to making all of your acquaintances!

Sincerely,

Philippe Farley,
Moot Coordinator.

The rivalry will be everywhere. Do you have the profile? On January 3, get ready for furious competition ... and for "deals on alcohol" beyond comprehension!

This night will end up in the opulent nightclub: LaMouche which, again, is exclusively reserved for us!

So…. Are you in?
Not convinced yet?
Perfect…
Because, I’m not quite finished.

Third Night: The Movie Night Party

Choose your favourite movie.
Dress up as your favourite hero.
And show the rest of Canada that you have more talent than all the others...

Hollywood takes over the Telus Theater for an evening of "Cinema". That night, we offer you nothing but Talent. For the occasion, we have recruited an outstanding team of judges. On January 4, prepare yourself to be dazzled by the LawGames 2010’s Hot Talent Show.

Videoclip

Posted on 2009-11-22 19:19:32 by Admin

This year, we want to know which university has the best cinematographic skills. That's why a videoclip contest will be held!

It can be a perfect reproduction of a videoclip, singing puppets, or even you singing under the shower, doesn't matter! What's important is that there're Lawgamers, a song and a video!

THE RULES

  • The video has to be maximum 5 minutes long.
  • The support of the video has to be 640X505 (with your consent this video will also be on the web page of the Lawgames after the week).
  • The song chosen for the video has to be sent before the shooting at fungames@lawgames2010.com
  • As per usual, first come, first served, so not more than one song per university. We will send you back a confirmation that your choice is approved.
  • And of course, rules of civility are left to your good judgment...
Your originality and your capacity to impress will be the criterias of evaluation for your video, which will be presented during the Law Games. This contest is part of the Fun Games, so you may earn points for the Spirit Cup!

Check out some examples on our website!

Upload your video (free hosting: http://www.mediafire.com/) and send the link to support@lawgames2010.com before December 25th!

It will be legend... wait for it... dary!

Fun Games Coordinator.

Here is the official list of the sports in which you will be competing:

  • Basketball
  • Dodgeball
  • Ice Hockey
  • Indoor Hockey
  • Kinball
  • Soccer
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Volleyball

Here are the General Rules:
  • Sportsmanship is essential and hearty competition is more than welcome, but every sport must be played within the rules ensuring the safety and well being of your fellow competitors.
  • Be respectful of the ref’s and the timekeepers, the universities staff as well as our volunteers.
  • The material that is used as well as the courts is rented; please keep them the way they were given to you.
  • Referees may throw you out if ever they judge you deserved it. Any violence, overt intoxication, and/or abusive language will result in your expulsion from competition.
  • Law Games is Co-Ed. There must be a minimum of one person from each gender participating in each game at all times. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of said game. If the required number of gendered participants is greater than one of each, this will be outlined in the rules. Failure to field a co-ed team will automatically result in a forfeiture of the game.
  • Teams that show up 5 minutes late to their game will lose by forfeit. However, if a team shows up with the minimal number of players, they may play.
  • It is strongly recommended that teams show up 5 to 10 minutes before their game to make sure to avoid lateness and to warm up.
  • We also strongly recommend that players wear matching colors or uniforms so they can be identified correctly and distinctively.
  • Cheer your team! Cheer the other teams! Let’s get SPIRIT!

Sports Coordinator.
