UQÀM’s 2010 organizing committee for Law Games is thrilled to make this great announcement. Your committee has worked endlessly throughout this last summer to bring you the very best Games that you will ever see!
COST AND NUMBER OF DELEGATES
The cost per delegate will be $275.
RECEPTION AND LODGING
We shall be staying in Grand Plaza Montreal located at the intersection of Sherbrooke and Berri, situated in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier Latin neighbourhood. We shall have at our disposition: 225 rooms, each containing two double beds, all the usual services, a conference room, along with a afterhour room which will allow us to party until the early hours of the morning without fear from security.
We have committed ourselves to produce a socially responsible event. In addition to stimulating the local economy, by working with local partners, we will be installing recycling stations on every floor of the hotel, where you will have the opportunity to recycle your empty beer bottles! The profits amassed from the sale of the bottles shall be donated to a national juridical organization dedicated to promoting social and communal values.
TRANSPORT
Though a shuttle service will be made available (reduced between rush hours), all the site’s amenities are conveniently located within walking distance of your hotel (700 meters). Look by yourself: check the online map.
SPORTS
In order for you to begin preparations for your teams, here is a list of the sports in which you will be competing:
- Basketball
- Dodgeball
- Ice Hockey
- Indoor Hockey
- Kinball
- Soccer
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Volleyball
All the above-mentioned competitions will be held at the
UQAM’s Sports Center which, itself, comprises many facilities, including: one large gymnasium divided in three sections, one palestra, a dance room and a relaxation room. We shall also be using the CÉGEP du Vieux-Montréal’s facilities, which themselves include an enormous gymnasium capable of being divided in to four sections, a palestra and a relaxation room.
Concerning the outdoors hockey tournament, we are exploring the possibility of holding it at an outdoor skating ring situated in the very center of the Downtown area.
SOCIAL
The 2010 Law Games shall overflow with special surprises. Here are a few that you may encounter!
The 2nd of January, the incredible opening night shall be truly a cocktail of powerful emotions and tribulations. We will take control of
1234 Montreal's club.
On the 3rd, we shall go bar-hopping on St-Denis. We shall stop five times, where each university will challenge the others in different games to know which delegation is the best! We will pass by the
Ste-Élizabeth Bar , the Bistro Sanguinet,
the Abreuvoir,
the St-Ciboire Pub finally ending with a massive drinking party at
La Mouche NightClub.
As you know, Montreal, in January, is a pretty frisky place. That being the case, make sure you dress appropriately because we will walk between the bars and some activities may be outside. This will be a night to remember! We have plenty of contests prepared and prizes for you to win!
Movie Night will take place at the
Telus Theater . on the 4th. Each delegation is asked with the preparation of a talent show themed according to a famous film. Let your imagination take flight! Expect your efforts to be judged by professional dancers and singers.
A magnificent and unequaled event will meet his glorious end in the
Montreal Hyatt Regency Hotel’s majestic reception hall, in the city’s booming
"Quartier des Spectacles" (artistic district). Prepare yourselves for a dining cocktail where will be given the Spirit Cup, with… an open bar all night long!
FUN GAMES
We have also prepared a variety of surprise contests which will provide your teams the opportunity to accumulate Spirit Points. You just may find yourself participating in a rodeo, lip-dubbing, or proving your skills on the Nintendo!

The point is to create a competition spirit before the Games to see which delegation is preparing herself the most! Be thrilled!
